Independence Day: Virat Kohli calls for unity, sets a mission for Indians

India is jubilant as it celebrates the completion of 72 years of Independence on Thursday. Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli expressed his desire for the citizens to work together towards the progress of the country, and create India ‘of our dreams.’

India is jubilant as it celebrates the completion of 72 years of Independence on Thursday. Starting from flag hoisting and events of national fervour involving patriotic songs and performances, the Independence Day is always one of the most lively days, for people across age groups. Apart from the wishes flooding everyone’s inboxes and timelines, even celebrities sent across their wishes to the citizens, most notably Prime Minister Narendra  Modi addressing the nation from Red Fort,  early on Thursday.  One of the other prominent names was Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli. The cricket superstar expressed his desire for the citizens to work together towards the progress of the country, and create India ‘of our dreams.’

Virat wishes Independence Day

Virat on Thursday tweeted, “Wishing every Indian a Happy Independence Day. Let's work together towards progress of our country and create the India of our dreams. Jai Hind.” 

Apart from Virat, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan were some of the other stars who wished their followers on the occasion.

Cricket fraternity celebrate Independence Day

Gambhir, who is also a Member of Parliament, shared an intense video to wish the citizens and hoping for progress and peace in the country.

 Sachin Tendulkar expressed pride about our achievements in the past 72 years.

Raina wrote, "Today & every day, let us all take a moment to remember the heroes who have laid down their lives for #India and its people. Proud to be a part of this nation!"

"A country is known for its history & by its ppl how they are.Lets build our country by love,reagrdless of different faith,Lets built a solid India where when a traveler comes to our land he/she goes back with the most beautiful memories one can ever have #IndependenceDayIndia," tweeted Irfan Pathan.
