India defeating SA forces Faf du Plessis to demand certainty in CSA

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis demands certainty within CSA by saying they need to finalise the positions of team director and director of cricket.

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis has called on Cricket South Africa (CSA) to quickly finalise upon the positions of team director and director of cricket. At present, Enoch Nkwe and Corrie van Zyl are serving the two positions on an interim basis respectively. Both Enoch and Corrie were responsible for picking the South African Test squad that recently lost 0-3 in India.  

Faf du Plessis demands certainty in CSA

Upon his return to South Africa, Du Plessis said that the positions of interim coach and the director need to be resolved as quickly as possible. He added that the board needs to make decisions that will positively influence the team. The South African skipper hinted that there is a lack of clarity within the board and someone needs to make decisions regarding the same.

Faf du Plessis’ recent comments came after CSA announced a reshuffling in the manner in which the South African men’s team will function. According to CSA, the Proteas team will now have a team director who will be reporting to the director of cricket.

South Africa tour of India and beyond

The South African recently toured for three T20Is and three Test matches. After levelling the T20I series 1-1, the hosts completely blanked the visitors in the Test matches that followed. The Indian team inflicted an innings defeat over South Africa in the last two Tests to make it a 3-0 series win. With the win, Team India also regained the Freedom Trophy which they lost in South Africa last year.

South Africa will now host England for four Tests, three ODI’s and three T20I’s between December 17, 2019 and February 16, 2020.
