With months to go for the much-awaited ICC Champions Trophy 2025, former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has urged the BCCI not to send the Indian cricket team for the marquee event. This should not come as a surprise for anyone who knows Kaneria. Admitting that the Indian cricket board is doing a good job, Kaneria, to a leading publication, said that safety in Pakistan is a concern. Recommending a hybrid model for the marquee event, Kaneria said that other team would have to agree to what the BCCI decides in regard to the tournament. “The safety of the players is the first priority. Respect is the second priority. I think BCCI is doing a great job. Whatever their decision is, other countries will also have to accept that. I think it will be a hybrid model,” Kaneria said as quoted by the publication.
