Rishabh Pant to Ishan Kishan; Cricketers Eyeing Test Return Via Duleep Trophy

With the Duleep Trophy set to start soon, a number of players will look to make a comeback to the national Test team through it.

With the Duleep Trophy set to start from September 5, a number of star Indian players will look at it as an opportunity to make a comeback in the national Test squad. The players would be aware that the Duleep Trophy could see them make it to the Test squad that takes on Bangladesh. The squad for the Test series against Bangladesh is likely to be announced just after the completion of the Duleep Trophy. Big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would be missing. 

Duleep Trophy Team Names And Captains

The Duleep Trophy wiould be held in Bengaluru with Andhra Pradesh hosting the competition. The BCCI have named the squads as Team A, Team B, Team C and Team D. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill will be captaining Team A, Team B will be led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad will skipper Team C, and Team D will be led by Shreyas Iyer.

Here are a few players who would look to make a mark in the Duleep Trophy and make a solid case for themselves in front of the selectors before the Bangladesh squad is picked. 

Rishabh Pant: The India wicketkeeper has made a comeback in the white-ball format after his recovery, but is yet to play a Test. With a good show in the Duleep Trophy, he would like to convince the selectors that he is fit and can play the long format as well. 

Ishan Kishan: Removed from the Central Contracts, spotlight would be on him after he rubbed the selectors on the wrong side. With some good performances, he would like to stake a claim for a spot in the Test side.

Shreyas Iyer: The stylish right-hander has had a good year, leading KKR to the title in IPL. But again, he has a lot to prove in Tests. At the Duleep Trophy, he would realise he needs to come up with good performances to make a return to the Test side.
