Indian openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal flaunt Team India's new Test jerseys in a practice match

After a formidable outing in the limited-overs, the focus now shifts to the longest format of the game with both sides locking horns in the two-match Test series.

Indian openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal flaunt Team India's new Test jerseys in a practice match

Team India will be aiming for a clean sweep in the Caribbean after winning the One Day International series by an unassailable 2-0 lead against West Indies which was preceded by a 3-0 whitewash over the hosts in the T20Is.

After a formidable outing in the limited-overs, the focus now shifts to the longest format of the game with both sides locking horns in the two-match Test series. The first Test will be played in Antigua from August 22-26 while the second and final Test will be played at Kingston Jamaica from August 30- September 3. The Test series will also mark Team India's ICC World Championship schedule. However, before the series begins, India took on West Indies A in Antigua on Saturday in a practice match. In fact, it is a three-day warm-up match. During the warm-up match, there was something which was revealed and it ended up grabbing attention.

Indian openers take to the field in the new team jerseys

You have heard that one right. India won the toss against West Indies A and elected to bat first and when both the openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal walked out to the middle, the Indian team's new jersey was finally revealed. As per ICC's implementation for the World Test Championship, players of all Test-playing nations will have their names and numbers behind their jerseys. Similar was the case with Rahul and Mayank as they had their names as well as numbers 1 and 14 respectively printed on the back of their jerseys.

The video of the two batsmen walking out to bat in the new team jersey was posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official Twitter handle.

Ravi Shastri to continue as the head coach

Ravi Shastri has retained his position of Team India's head coach. Shastri has now got a two-year extension i.e. till ICC World T20 2021.  The former Indian cricketer was appointed as the head coach after Anil Kumble had stepped down from the role after the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. 

Before Shastri became the head coach in 2017, he had served as the Team Director from 2014-2016.
