Inside Details Of Gautam Gambhir's Contract With BCCI As Team India Head Coach

BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Tuesday announced the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of Indian Cricket Team.  Gautam Gambhir takes over from Rahul Dravid who signed off as Team India's coach after winning the T20 World Cup 2024.  

As Gautam Gambhir takes over as the head coach of Indian Cricket Team here are all the inside details of his contract with BCCI as the new coach of Team India. 

Gautam Gambhir's tenure as India Head Coach

BCCI has not officially announced for how long Gautam Gambhir will oversee the Indian Cricket Team as head coach of the side. However, as reported by ESPNcricinfo, Gambhir's contract is of three years with BCCI and will run till 2027. 

This suggests that Gautam Gambhir will take charge as captain for India till the ICC Men's ODI Cricket World Cup 2027 in South Africa.

BCCI reveal Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as Team India Head Coach 

BCCI in their announcement for Gautam Gambhir's appointment have revealed that his first assignment as head coach will be a tour to Sri Lanka starting from 27th July. India will travel to Sri Lanka to play 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is. 

Upon the conclusion of India's tour of Sri Lanka, Gautam Gambhir will prepare for five match T20I series against Bangladesh. Then India will face New Zealand at home before travelling to South Africa and Australia.

Gautam Gambhir will head India into the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 and ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. The appointment brings much excitement and given India's latest triumph at T20 World Cup 2024 the expectations will be even higher.
