Evin Lewis has been part of the MI camp since 2018. The destructive opener was seen as a perfect player at the top of the order to give a strong start to the side, but unfortunately, he failed to deliver consistently. With the arrival of Quinton de Kock in the side, Lewis has been kept on the bench with limited opportunities.
Mitchell McClenaghan, too had a disappointing season last year, picking up 3 wickets from 5 matches he played and is most likely to be released by the franchise.
The report also mentions that apart from these two players, Mumbai Indians is set to also release Indian off-spinner Jayant Yadav and the young Anmolpreet Singh, who was bought for a hefty price. The release of these four players will not only increase their funds but also allow the team to buy a couple of exciting players during the auctions.
Recently, a report emerged that Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are eyeing the services of Somerset opener Tom Banton, who has been turning heads with his exceptional performance in T20 cricket in England. It would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Mumbai in the IPL 2020 auctions.
