IPL 2025: Huge Setback For Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav Gets Captaincy Offer from IPL Giants

After being appointed as the new first-choice captain of Team India in T20Is replacing Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav may look to explore a similar role in the IPL as well. Unfortunately for him, the position at Mumbai Indians at the moment is not open and held by Hardik Pandya. Hence, this means SKY would have to wait for his turn to come. Right? Not according to the new rumblings that have stormed by.

KKR Trying to Lure Suryakumar Yadav With Captaincy Offer

According to report by Revsportz, the IPL 2024 winners, Kolkata Knight Riders, are pushing for a move to bring Suryakumar Yadav on board and have offered him the captaincy as well. Shreyas Iyer is the current captain of the franchise and has evidently done no wrong to get discharged from his duties. KKR dominated the competition in IPL 2024 and won the one-sided final against Sunrisers Hyderabad to be crowned as the champions for the 3rd time in the eminent league.

The assertions further reveal that there would be a double trade between MI and KKR., where the defending champions will send their current captain Shreyas Iyer to Mumbai to import a new captain in the form of Suryakumar Yadav.

Suryakumar Yadav Played for KKR from 2014 to 2017

Ahead of becoming the batting general of Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav was a formidable member of the Gautam Gambhir-led KKR side. He had a successful stint with Kolkata from 2014 to 2017. However, if the move indeed takes place, it will not be the first time Suryakumar Yadav will don the Mumbai Indians outfit. Surya started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians. He was with the team in 2012 and 2013 but could earn only one appearance where as well he failed to make any mark, and got dismissed without scoring.  

So, while at this point it is all reports and speculations, it would be intriguing to see whether the subject holds any genuineness.
