IPL 2024 trade talks heat up, Hardik Pandya may return to Mumbai Indians in shock transfer

Hardik Pandya to return to his old franchise?

As per a report by News18, Hardik Pandya could return to Mumbai Indians in what could be a shocking transfer. The Indian white ball vice captain currently is at the helm of Gujarat Titans and it could be a straight swap deal which could enable Rohit Sharma to move in the opposite direction. Both Rohit and Hardik were a part of Mumbai's core setup that helped the franchise to lift the IPL title on four occasions. Hardik left Mumbai and was picked by Gujarat  as they handed him the leadership role instantly.

It had instant result as GT lifted the IPL title back in 2022 and also reached the final this season. The report also stated that fast bowler Jofra Archer could also be roped in a swap deal and it that case Rohit will continue lead the five time champions. But in case Rohit leaves Pandya will be the designated leader for one of the most successful IPL franchises.

Hardik Pandya could be handed the captaincy in 2025

Rohit joined Mumbai in 2011 and since 2013 he has been the undisputable leader of the franchise, having guided MI to five IPL titles his name is very synonymous with the franchise and it would be very surprising if the franchise does allow to their most coveted player to leave ahead of IPL 2024.

Hardik's ability as a T20 player is nothing short of brilliant and as per the same report he could be handed the Mumbai captaincy in 2025 eventually. The IPL 2024 auction is reportedly set to be held in Dubai next month.
