Mitchell Starc gives his first reaction after fetching Rs 24.75 crore in IPL 2024 Auction

In a momentous twist during the IPL 2024 Auction held in Dubai, Mitchell Starc, the Australian pace sensation, made history by becoming the highest-paid player ever in the tournament. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured Starc for a staggering Rs 24.75 crore, marking a groundbreaking deal for the upcoming season.

Expressing his enthusiasm and gratitude to the KKR fans, Starc took to Instagram with a video message, stating, "Hey KKR fans. I am thrilled to join the team for this year’s IPL. And I can’t wait to get to Eden Gardens to experience home fans, home crowd, and the atmosphere. Look forward to seeing you then. Ami KKR."

The 32-year-old speedster, absent from the IPL since 2015, has consistently showcased his prowess on the international stage. Starc's return to the IPL carries high expectations, and KKR has displayed immense confidence in his bowling abilities by securing his services for a record-breaking sum.

“Nothing I could have dreamt of. Obviously, a few teams were looking to bolster their pace attacks and there are a plethora of brilliant skill sets and names on their auction list, with Pat (Cummins) being one of them, and going to Dan’s (Daniel Vettori) team in Hyderabad. I wasn't sure where I would end up, but I am thrilled to be a part of KKR. It’s a team that Pat was at, so hopefully, I can fill his boots there and be very successful,” Starc said after being bought by KKR at the IPL 2024 auction on Tuesday.
