Windies Legend Dwayne Bravo Named as Mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders Ahead of IPL 2025 Season

One of West Indies' legendary all-rounders, Dwayne Bravo, has joined the Kolkata Knight Riders as a mentor ahead of the IPL 2025 Season. He ended his journey in the Chennai Super Kings and will be a part of the Purple and Gold from 2025. Bravo has recently announced retirement from all forms of cricket. The WI all-rounder replaces Gautam Gambhir in the team after the latter left to join Team India s their head coach.

ESPNCricinfo reports that Dwayne Bravo met with the Knight Riders CEO during the Caribbean Premier League before they came to terms in a long-term deal. The all-rounder will not not just be a part of KKR, but all it's sister franchises – Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC) and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20).
While making the announcement official, the Kolkata Knight Riders CEO expressed optimism on DJ Bravo joining the franchise.
“DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development. His relentless drive to win, along with his vast experience and deep knowledge, will greatly benefit our franchise and players,” KKR CEO Venky Mysore said in a statement.
"I've been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate. The owners' passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like environment make it a special place. This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players," Bravo said in a statement.
After bringing in Dwayne Bravo, the Kolkata Knight Riders filled one of their biggest voids. The all-rounder's expertise will help them secure success as they defend their title in the 2025 season. But the team is still lacking in terms of assistant coaches as Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate also left to join Team India. KKR currently has Chandrakant Pandit as their head coach and Bharat Arun as their bowling coach.
