England bowler James Anderson admitted that their ''unusual'' arrival into Sri Lanka made the team ''feel safer''.
The squad were met by staff in full protective hazmat suits and they and their luggage were sprayed with disinfectant at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport on Sunday.
As the side get set to spend months abroad and in a strict 'bio-secure bubble', Anderson said he is confident that the squad will ''look out for each other'', and added that a dedicated member of staff had been brought in to ensure the players welfare is maintained.
The series, beginning on 14th January was rearranged from March 2020, when the pandemic cut short the tour.
The squad were tested for COVID-19 upon arrival and were sprayed with disinfectant by airport staff in full protective suits.
They will now isolate in hotel rooms until Tuesday, when they will be tested again.
If negative they can train on Tuesday, starting preparations for a series postponed last March because of the pandemic.
Both Tests will take place behind closed doors in Galle, with the first match set to start on 14th January.
