Rumour mills are ablaze with the speculations of Jay Shah become the head of global cricket. If things turn out to be how they are being speculated, BCCI secretary Jay Shah might become the youngest president of the ICC. Jay Shah's tenure as the BCCI chief has been nothing but impeccable. During his tenure, India won the T20 World Cup for the second time and also reached the finals of WTC and the ODI World Cup in 2023.

Fresh Reports On Jay Shah Becoming The ICC Supremo

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to hold its Annual Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka by the end of July 2024. If  reports published in Cricbuzz are to be believed, the whole and sole agenda of this meeting is not to elect the new ICC President and the decision about the same is to be taken in November, later this year. The BCCI secretary is being considered as one of the frontrunners to win the elections, but the decision solely rests upon his wish to relocate to Dubai.

Greg Barclay, Jay Shah's Fellow Competitor

The ICC is currently headed by New Zealander Greg Barclay who has been fulfilling the role to the best of his capabilities for the past four years. Till this date, despite all the rumours and specualations, Jay Shah has kept his lips sealed and has denied talking about the same. Barclay is surely eligible for a second term, but if Jay Shah decides to fight the presidential elections, he might end up winning it unopposed.

Jay Shah's Likely Tenure As ICC President

The decision to contest and be the ICC President surely rest on Shah and his plans if he wants to move to Dubai. If elected as the supremo of the apex global cricketing body, Shah will serve a three-year term as ICC chairman, after which he will be eligible, as per the BCCI constitution. After serving his term as the ICC president, if Shah opts out of a second term, he can become the BCCI President by the end of 2028.
