It was a disastrous start for the India A side ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as they succumbed to a batting collapse versus Australia A. Spotlight was on KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran as they are the potential replacements for India captain Rohit Sharma , who is set to miss a Test. In the first session of the second unofficial Test, Rahul perished for four while Easwaran failed to open his account. It was disastrous as in no time India was reduced to 11 for four. The ball seemed to be doing a lot in the opening morning at the Melbourne Cricket ground. These are alarming signs for the Indian team which is set to take on Australia in a five-match Test series. Dhruv Jurel was the most impressive Indian batter as he top-scored with 80 runs. Devdutt Padikkal scored 26, he seemed set when he was dismissed.

REACTION

Merely four batters got more than 10 runs which goes on to highlight that it was a batting failure. India eventually was bundled out for 161 runs. Michael Nesser was the pick of the Australian bowlers with four wickets to his name. It would now be interesting to see how the Indian bowlers respond. Surely, it has been a pitch that has favoured the bowlers up until now.
