As Team India's struggles while training and match simulations come to light, new reports have surfaced that the Men In Blue might receive some reinforcements before they lock horns with Australia in the Perth Test. As the visiting side battles injury struggles, reports suggest that India skipper Rohit Sharma and superstar pacer Mohammad Shami could be on their way to Australia to back the team up when they take part in the border Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit Sharma could jet off to Australia alongside Mohammad Shami, who recently made his return to domestic cricket, and they will be joining the team after the Perth Test. The India skipper did not travel to travel to Australia with the team and took a break for personal reasons. If the reports turn out to be correct, it will be a massive plus for the side.
Mohammad Shami failed to recover in time and did not make the cut when the squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy was announced. He dealt with a knee issue when the team was being determined and could not make it. But he eventually made his return as he participated in domestic cricket for Bengal at the Ranji Trophy. Speaking of Rohit Sharma, he recently became a father of two kids after he and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, welcomed a baby boy on Friday.

While Mohammed Shami and Rohit Sharma are expected to join Team India in Australia, reports added that the superstar pacer's return will be subject to fitness. Physiotherapist Nitin Patel was dispatched to Indore to evaluate Shami's health as he plays for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh.
The reports are coming after opener Shubman Gill suffered a fractured left thumb on Saturday, likely preventing him from playing in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium in Perth. On the second day of the intra-squad match simulation, Gill sustained an injury while fielding. He left the pitch right away for additional scans after being observed in significant pain.
