'He told me to..': Mayank Yadav Reveals Subtle Advice Given By Gautam Gambhir Ahead of Int'l Debut

Young pace sensation Mayank Yadav made an impactful debut at the International front on Sunday. He started with a maiden over and kept bowling tight lines throughout his spell. In the process, he opened his wicket account too, picking up Mahmudullah. He finished his debut appearance with impressive figures of 4 overs, 21 runs, and 1 wicket. Moreover, as he carries the reputation of hitting lightning speeds, he did not leave that account blank as well. The express pacer bowled the fastest delivery of the match, which clocked the speed of 149.9 kmph.

Gautam Gambhir 's Subtle Advice to Mayank Yadav

Following the culmination of the match, Mayank Yadav divulged what takeaway he received from head coach Gautam Gambhir before entering the international arena for the first time. Mayank shared that Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir advised him not to do anything differently and just stick to his strengths.

"His advice was just to focus on my strengths and abilities, and to do what I do best, things that have worked successfully for me in the past.

"He told me to stick to those and not put pressure on myself by over-thinking that I am now playing international cricket." He was all praise for skipper Suryakumar Yadav , who comforted him before he marked his run-up.

Suryakumar Yadav Motivated the Youngster

Mayank Yadav also divulged how Team India T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav motivated him during the match.

"He (Suryakumar) gives you freedom. When I was taking the run-up, he was telling me 'do what you feel is best'. So that's very important for any fast bowler, specially when you making your debut," Mayank told BCCI.TV. 

Mayank Yadav has started on a fair note but the pressing question is, will he be able to distance himself from the prospects of the past who wooed the fans with sheer pace but could not level up to justify their talent.
