Team India Suffer HUGE Blow Before Perth Test! Shubman Gill Doubtful After Injuring Finger | Reports
According to reports, Team India opener Shubman Gill injured his thumb during a match simulation at the WACA Ground while fielding in the slips.
India is already dealing with a number of health issues involving some of its superstar cricketers. In the midst of their troubles, they were dealt a devastating blow on Saturday when star top-order batsman Shubman Gill suffered a left thumb injury, which may determine him out of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at Perth's Optus Stadium.
A Huge Setback For Team India As Opener Shubman Gill Likely Out Of Perth Test!
Team India's superstar opener, Shubman Gill, has been ruled doubtful for the upcoming Perth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. Gill sustained a thumb injury while fielding during a match simulation at the WACA Ground while he was fielding in the slips, as per reports. The star-opening batter sustained a thumb fracture, which is expected to put him on the bench for the opening Test match at Perth's Optus Stadium. Gill, one of India's young heroes from the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy triumph, is a batting mainstay, and if skipper Rohit Sharma withdraws from the first Test, India's top-order could be severely weakened.
According to a BCCI source, Gill has fractured his left thumb, and with less than a week until the start of the Test, the stylish right-hander will struggle to recover in time for the first test match in Perth, Australia. A thumb fracture typically takes 14 days to heal, after which one can resume regular net sessions. Since the second Test in Adelaide begins on December 6, he may be able to recover in time for that match. Gill's absence could be devastating for the national team because he is not only a reliable number three batter, but in the event of Rohit's absence, he could be considered to open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul , the other player in contention, suffered a bruised elbow after being hit by a Prasidh Krishna short ball on the first day of the intra-squad match and was forced to leave the pitch. Rahul's bruised area required icing, and he did not take the pitch on Saturday for the second day of the match simulation, which was viewed as more of a precaution.
Team India doesn't have many options left, so Abhimanyu Easwaran might have to be ready for his Test debut if Shubman Gill isn't available. But it would be a different story if skipper Rohit, who was fortunate to have a baby boy, decided to join the team in Perth with just three three days to train up.
