India's Test opener Mayank Agarwal continued to repay the faith of the selectors as he registered his third Test century on Day two of the first Test vs B'desh
India's Test opener Mayank Agarwal continued to repay the faith of the selectors as he registered his third Test century on Day two of the first Test against Bangladesh at Indore. The right-handed opener brought up his ton off 183 balls, laced with 15 boundaries and a six. India got off to a shaky start after losing skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara very early in the first session. Ajinkya Rahane and Mayank Agarwal then joined hands to revive the Indian innings and helped put India in a commanding position once again.

India steady after two early blows on Day 2
India resumed their innings on Day 2 at 86/1. Cheteshwar Pujara reached his fifty but failed to get going as he was dismissed by Abu Jayed on 54. Mayank Agarwal took the aggressor's role as he took on the Bangladesh bowlers and looked the most comfortable batsman scoring runs easily. After Pujara's dismissal, Agarwal was joined by skipper Virat Kohli at the crease but the Indian captain was dismissed for a rare duck as he was trapped in front of the wicket by Jayed on just the second ball of his innings. The responsibility of steadying the Indian innings fell on the shoulders of Agarwal and Rahane.
Earlier, Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque won the toss and decided to bat first. The move backfired as the top-order struggled their way to 31-3 within the first hour of the day. The struggle continued after lunch as the visitors kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Apart from skipper Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim, no other batsmen got going during the course of their innings. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 150 with Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin taking two wickets each. Mohammed Shami bagged 3 scalps. India ended Day 1 at 86/1.
