Australia Great Responds To Gautam Gambhir's Fiery Jibe At Ricky Ponting Ahead Of IND vs AUS Series

Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024: With few more days to go, the IND vs AUS Test series has just started to heat up a little. Virat Kohli once said that no Australian team can be taken lightly in Australian conditions and it turns out to be true. The Australian cricket team and their former cricketers have been playing mind games with the Indian team for quite sometime now. The war of words have started to play out in the media and this just adds more spice to the much-awaited heavyweight clash.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma , two greats of Indian cricket are under the scanner for their dismal and lacklustre performances and they have the onus on themselves to prove their critics wrongs. Several questions are being asked of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and how they plan to turn things around 'Down Under'. Kohli faced severe criticism from former Australia player and captain Ricky Ponting who questioned his place in the Indian XI. Gautam Gambhir too didn't hold himself back and said that Ponting should worry about Australian cricket.
Mike Hussey's Jaw Dropping Reply To Gambhir
A fierce play of words ahead of a Test series is nothing new when Australia is the opposition. India, notably are in a lot of pressure considering how the IND vs NZ series panned out. It is safe to say that India have hit a rock bottom and they are in dire need to change things around. Australia great Ponting had highlighted the fact that Virat had only two hundred in five years and this remark rubbed Gambhir off in a very wrong way.

The Indian Head Coach did not hold himself back and said that Ponting has no business with Indian cricket and should focus more on what is happening with Australian cricket. Now, Ricky Ponting's former Australia teammate Mike Hussey has broken his silence on the entire matter.
'We just heard Gambhir talk about Virat and Rohit not making runs. The silliest thing you can do is to write off champion players. I am backing them to perform well in Australia', said Hussey while speaking to Fox Cricket.

India are virtually out of the World Test Championship 2025 Final and they are only to blame themselves. India still have an outside chance to make it to the finals but they have an herculean task ahead of them. Firstly, Rohit Sharma and Co. can't afford to lose even one Test match and secondly, they have to win atleast four out of the five Test matches even before they fancy their chances.
