Former Indian opening batsman Aakash Chopra and former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johson engaged in a heated war of words on Twitter hours after the pitch for the second Test between Australia and India in Perth was rated as 'average'
Former Indian opening batsman Aakash Chopra and former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johson engaged in a heated war of words on Twitter hours after the pitch for the second Test between Australia and India in Perth was rated as 'average'.
ICC's match referee Ranjan Madugalle, who oversaw the proceedings on an uneven bouncy pitch, deemed the track only as 'average', the lowest mark that can be given by the world's cricketing body.
Following the verdict, Johnson took to Twitter to express his shock over the decision. His message read, "Nothing wrong with it. It was exciting to watch a contest between bat and ball for a change and not these dull flat tracks being served up constantly. I’d actually be interested in knowing what a good pitch is? Hope for another exciting test at the MCG."
It was followed by another tweet, wherein Johnson argued with a fan about why the pitch wasn't dangerous, and why the rating given to it was wrong.
Aakash Chopra joined in the action, which sparked a Twitter war of words between the two former international players.
