‘Wasn’t the Best Preparation’: Mitchell Starc Isn’t Fond of AUS’ Super 8 Exit From T20 World Cup
Mitchell Starc looks displeased regarding his substitution from the Super 8 clash against Afghanistan, leading to their imminent exit from the T20 World Cup.
The T20 World Cup was a wild success for Team India, who eventually won the T20 World Cup and ended their decades-old drought of an ICC title. But for Australia, they had an unceremonious exit from the Super 8 stage and failed to head onto the semifinal. The Mitchell Marsh-led Aussies faltered to Rashid Khan, which for them, is a massive upset. The team's hopes were dangling in the balance as they held hopes from the other teams to secure a spot in the semis. It was a tough pill to swallow as the ODI Champions could not stand up to the challenge. One of the team's premier bowlers, Mitchell Starc, has opened up on the Aussies' axing from the T20WC 2024.

Mitchell Starc is still salty about him getting snubbed from Super 8 clash vs AFG
One of Australia's greatest white-ball format cricketers, Mitchell Starc, looks to be frustrated over being dropped against Afghanistan and the team's eventual exit from the T20 World Cup before they could reach for the knockouts. Australia picked Ashton Agar over Starc as per the conditions of the pitch, but things did not pan out the way they expected to see.
“Two World Cups in a row. Just the match-up, they saw previous games on that ground in St Vincent with spin playing a part and obviously Ash and the left-armer enticing them to make a change. I think Ash bowled pretty well in the Powerplay.
“They probably played the spin quite well and batting first probably assessed the conditions a little bit better than we did, and had a couple of stumbles that in the end cost us the game. It was probably the fielding that cost us again that game. That meant we had to win against India and we fell short there as well,” Mitchell Starc said during his appearance at the Willow Talk Podcast.
Pacer Starc went on to criticise the format of the T20 World Cup during his appearance. He said that they were given a difficult itinerary in the Super Eights stage, when they had to alternate between morning and evening games and transit between the Caribbean islands on alternate days.
