MS Dhoni has been on a sabbatical since the conclusion of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 which was played in England. The legendary wicket-keeper, who is also considered as the best finisher, was out of the team for the series against West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh. He had made himself unavailable till November.
The former Indian captain served Territorial Army unit in Kashmir which led to selectors leaving him out of the T20I and ODI series against the West Indies away from home. Even after serving a two-month break, Dhoni was not a part of the squad for the T20I series against South Africa and Bangladesh which added more fuel to the fire of his retirement rumours.
Dhoni to miss West Indies series?
According to reports, it is highly unlikely that the 38-year-old will make his comeback in the upcoming West Indies series. India will take on West Indies in three T20Is and as many ODIs starting December 6 in Mumbai. While speaking to a leading publication, a BCCI official said that he was unavailable for the West Indies series. If Dhoni extends his sabbatical by opting to stay out, this will be his fourth consecutive series miss.
Amidst all the chatter surrounding Dhoni's retirement, a recent video has been uploaded on the internet where he can be seen sweating it out in the nets which provided a sigh of relief to his fans.

The gloveman has finally hit the nets after staying away from the game for a while. He was seen facing the net bowlers at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi on Thursday, November 14, raising hopes of a comeback. Dhoni has amassed 10,773 runs in 350 ODIs at an average of 50.6, including 10 centuries and 73 half-centuries.
Dhoni was also expected to don the commentator's hat in India’s first-ever Day-Night Test as the official broadcasters wanted to rope the veteran for the role. However, fans would not be able to enjoy Dhoni’s commentary. Dhoni remains a contracted player with the BCCI and his commentating would result in a conflict of interest.
