Tripura will square off against Mumbai in the group stage of the first class 42 of 40 in the next Ranji Trophy encounter on October 26 at 9:30 a.m. The game is scheduled at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Stadium. While Mumbai's team consists of Ajinkya Rahane as captain and Suryakumar Yadav , Tripura's squad consists of players like Mandeep Singh as captain, Jiwanjot Singh, and Left-Handed Batsman Bikramkumar Das. Given both clubs have outstanding players, this looks to be a fantastic match.
Prithvi Shaw dropped ahead of Mumbai vs Tripura Ranji Trophy match
Due to doubts over his fitness, the Mumbai selection committee has chosen to keep opener Prithvi Shaw out of the next Ranji Trophy encounter, according to the Indian Express. October 26 through 29 the squad is scheduled to play against Tripura at Agartala.
According to sources, Shaw has been directed by selectors to follow a two-week fitness programme developed by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) coaches. Over his four innings in the two Ranji Trophy games so far, Shaw scored 7, 12, 1, and 39 not out. Prithvi Shaw has been under a lot of scrutiny over the past years given his seriousness towards the sport. Once termed as the ‘next Sachin Tendulkar of India’, the player has failed to reach his potential but still has the time to turn things around.
Shaw's body fat percentage is 35%; hence, the team management has told the MCA that he needs extreme training before he can be considered for the squad. According to the above-mentioned source, an MCA official said:
“He has been dropped, and needs to go back to training and shed some body weight to be considered for selection,” stated an MCA official.
In other developments, Ajinkya Rahane will be guiding the Mumbai team—which comprises Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur—for the Tripura game. Suryakumar Yadav also informed the MCA of his absence for personal reasons; his plea was approved.
