Anushka Sharma broke her silence on the picture of Team India with the High Commissioner last year, as she addressed her critics over Cricket-related issues for which she has come to be targeted. Taking to Twitter, Anushka Sharma provided clarification about the picture and said that she was asked to be a part of the picture by the High Commissioner's wife even though she had expressed her hesitation. Anushka Sharma lashed out at the allegations of preferential treatment and said that despite the Board issuing an official clarification on the issue, she was being blamed for intentionally wanting to be a part of the program. Anushka Sharma had been criticized for appearing front-and-center in the photo.
" My name was used for false stories to make it look like the Board was being bothered for my tickets or security etc. When in reality I bought my own tickets for matches and flights and I still kept quiet. I was asked to stand in a group photo by the High Commissioner's wife despite my hesitation to be in it and a huge issue was created over this blaming me for intentionally wanting to be a part of it and the said event, even though I was invited for it. An official clarification was issued by the Board on the same and I still kept quiet", Anushka Sharma wrote.

A recap of Anushka being criticized
One of the famous incidents where Anushka Sharma was criticised by the Indian fans was back in the 2015 World Cup. The then defending champions India were undefeated in the tournament having won seven consecutive matches and making it to the last four. In the semi-final, they had crossed paths with the co-hosts as well as the eventual champions Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Even Anushka Sharma was present in the stands on that particular day Chasing a huge target of 329 for a place in the final, India were off to a good start riding on a 76-run opening stand between Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. Dhawan's dismissal brought Kohli out to the middle and all hopes were on the then vice-captain to take India past the finish line. In fact, Virat was already an accomplished chaser by that time. However, Kohli failed to absorb pressure and was dismissed for a 13-ball 1 when he tried to hit Mitchell Johnson out of the park and ended up getting a top edge as Brad Hadding made no mistake behind the stumps. The fans considered it to be the turning point of that match as the Men In Blue lost by 95 runs and were knocked out of the competition. The irate fans then put the blame on Anushka Sharma saying that it was due to her presence that Kohli could not focus on his game and he got distracted
