Hosts New Zealand beat England by 14 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20 series on Tuesday at the Saxton Oval, Nelson. Chasing a target of 181 runs, England fell short of their target by 14 runs at the end of 20 overs, handing the Kiwis a much-needed win. England's opening batsman Tom Banton was dismissed for 27 runs after which Dawid Malan and James Vince got the scoreboard ticking with knocks of 55 and 49 respectively. Following Dawid Malan's fifty, he was dismissed by Ish Sodhi as he tried to dispatch it to a six but found the fielder instead. That was the beginning of the end for England's run chase as the middle-order and the lower order of the England line-up failed to put a battle against New Zealand's bowling attack, ultimately falling short by 14 runs. Colin de Grandhomme was adjudged the man of the match for his knock of 55 runs off 35 balls. The two teams will next meet at Napier on November 8 for the fourth T20 clash.
