Virat Kohli hasn't had the best of stays in Sri Lanka in the 3-match ODI series. The modern-day legend had a hat-trick of flop shows- 24, 14, and 20- putting India in a spot of bother each time. As a consequence of Kohli's silent run and the middle order's collective failure, India lost the series 0-2 to Sri Lanka, their first bilateral series win over India in 27 years.

Virat Kohli had verbal spat with Asitha Fernando

Team India had a target of 249 in the third and final ODI of the series. There was a need for the dependables, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to step up. Sharma, who has comparatively fared well in the series, failed to go past the 35-run mark in the 3rd ODI. Following his departure, the onus was on Virat Kohli. However, he also perished after scoring 20 runs. Kohli's dismissal spread panic in the Indian dressing room and subsequently no partnership flourished, resulting in India losing the game by 110 runs.

While India suffered a humiliating defeat, and Virat Kohli once again failed to amass a big total. Despite having an off-day, Virat Kohli provided one of the biggest highlights from the match. Kohli engaged in a verbal back-and-forth with Asitha Fernando when he batting. Here's the clip of that episode.

Away from the Paris Olympics setback, Team India could not find a reason to celebrate on the cricket field as well. Rohit Sharma's men have suffered a humiliating loss in the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka. Chasing 249 at the R. Premadasa Stadium, in Colombo, the men-in-blue bundled out at just 138, suffering a crushing defeat of 110 runs. With the win, Sri Lanka have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead to win the ODI series against India. The first ODI ended in a draw, and following that Sri Lanka registered couple of wins.

The loss puts focus on Gautam Gambhir, as this was his debut series as Team India head coach. While his reign started on a positive note in the T20I scene, where India manufactured a clean sweep of 3-0 over Sri Lanka, it turned out to be completely opposite when it comes to ODIs.
