On this day Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid set record partnership

On November 8, 1999, legendary Indian cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid gave Indian fans one of the most memorable matches when they scored a record-breaking partnership that still stands to this day. The match which was played at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad was the second One-Day International (ODI) between both the sides. Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid put on a mind-blowing world record partnership of 331 runs for any wicket, as India crushed New Zealand.

Ind vs NZ 1999: Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid carnage in Hyderabad 

India won the toss and skipper Sachin Tendulkar elected to bat first. Sachin Tendulkar decided to go after Chris Cairns but unfortunately his partner Sourav Ganguly was run-out at the non-striker’s end after Shane O’Conner’s feather touch on the ball broke the stumps at the non-striker’s end.

After the early breakthrough, it was all about two of India's finest batsman taking charge of the match as New Zealand bowlers failed to find any more breakthrough.

Both Dravid and Tendulkar tore apart the bowling attack. Even the usually economical Chris Harris wasn’t spared on that day. Known for his clever changes of pace, Harris failed to stop the run flow.

After India crossed the 200-run mark, the Kiwi bowling attack looked helpless as Dravid and Tendulkar sent the for leather hunt. After crossing their respective three-figure mark, both of them played some outrageous shots to the delight of the fans.

The 331-run thrill-a-minute partnership finally ended when Dravid was caught by Fleming of Cairns’s bowling. Tendulkar though, remained not out on a wonderfully made186 as India posted 376 runs on board. The total proved to be too much to chase as New Zealand innings was folded up for just 202 runs in 33.1 overs to hand India a massive win by 174 runs. India eventually went onto win the series 3-2.
