Pakistan Shoot Themselves In The Foot, Blow Apart Their Chances Of Easily Qualifying For WTC Finals

PAK vs BAN 2nd Test: Bangladesh have done the unthinkable. Well, it is actually not unthinkable considering the fact that Pakistan has had this habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Bangladesh have defeated Pakistan 2-0, on their home ground. This is the first time that Bangladesh has inflicted a series defeat on Pakistan in Pakistan. Throughout both the Test matches, Bangladesh were extremely clinical and immaculate with their plannings and hence have created history on Pakistan soil.

Pakistan's Hopes Of Playing WTC Finals Takes Massive Hit

The series against Bangladesh was Pakistan's best bet to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the World Test Championship finals to be played at Lord's next year, but as of now, Pakistan's hopes have taken a serious hit. Bangladesh have inflicted a whitewash on Pakistan, their first ever in history. Shan Masood's men will play three home Test matches against England and will later travel to South Africa for a two-match Test series.

Unfortunately for Pakistan, they have two difficult Test series ahead of them which will test their skill. The last time England visited Pakistan in the fall of 2022, Ben Stokes and his men defeated Pakistan by 3-0. Something on the same lines can happen again considering Pakistan's recent form against Bangladesh. Even if they stage a fightback against England, the series against South Africa will be extremely difficult for Pakistan, since it is an away series. Bangladesh on the other hand will visit India next to play a two-match Test series.

Can Pakistan Still Qualify For World Test Championship Finals?

Just like every other ICC event, this time around too, Pakistan have blown apart their opportunity of making it to the World Test Championship finals. Though they still have an outside chance as they will also depend on the results of other teams.
