Rohit Sharma's T20 World Cup winning team has landed in India and the team has been given a rousing welcome, rightfully so. The 'Men in Blue' created history on June 29, 2024 by defeating South Africa in the finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and the entire nation had to wait for four long days to welcome them back. The team was stranded in the Caribbean islands as Hurricane Beryl had made landfall in Barbados on June 30, 2024, but now the champions are back on their home soil.

PM Modi Meets T20 World Cup Champions, Team India

The Indian Team landed in Delhi on July 4, 2024. Post that Rohit Sharma and Co. met the Prime Minister at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The Indian team had a small chat and breakfast with the Prime Minister before leaving for Mumbai where a victory parade has been planned for them from the Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium. Captain Rohit Sharma and Coach Rahul Dravid presented the coveted silverware to PM Modi. PM Modi's interesting gesture is getting a lot of praise on the internet. While being presented with the trophy, the Prime Minister did not touch the silverware but just held Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma's hands.

Team India returns home: Mumbai Braces Itself To Welcome World Champions

After meeting the Prime Minister of India, the Indian team will fly out to Mumbai. The Indian team will travel in an open bus from the Mumbai airport to the Wankhede Stadium. After looking at the reception that the Indian team had in Delhi during the early hours of the day. They are expected to be accompanied by a 'sea of blue' when they reach the city of dreams.

Team India ended their 11-year-old title drought after winning the T20 World Cup trophy on June 29, 2024. With this India are now only the third team in the history of cricket to win two T20 World Cup trophies after England (2010 & 2022) and West Indies (20212 & 2016).
