Normally, the head coach decides to develop the support staff around him which allows more transparency between him and the staff. When Rahul Dravid was appointed as the coach, he brought in Paras Mhambrey and T Dilip for the fielding and bowling zones. All of them have worked together in the past, so it was a no-brainer for Dravid to bring the trio together for Team India.

Jonty Rhodes has been associated with the IPL's Lucknow Super Giants as he is the fielding coach for the franchise. Gambhir and Rhodes worked together when they were in the team. Jonty is one of the most prolific fielders in the game, and it will allow more transparency among them if they work as a unit. But whether or not it happens is yet to be seen.
