R Ashwin Reveals How Different the Gautam Gambhir Era Has Been Since He Took Over
While speaking on his YouTube show, R Ashwin opens up on his experience of working with Gautam Gambhir for the first time since he took charge as the head coach of the Senior Men's National Cricket Team. He revealed that there is a stark difference among them, but their effectiveness is praiseworthy.
"I think he is very relaxed. I want to call him 'relaxed rancho'. There's no pressure at all. In the morning, there will be a team huddle. He is very relaxed about that as well. He will be like 'are you coming, please come'. It's like that. With Rahul bhai, as soon as we come, he wanted things in order: even a bottle should be kept at a particular place at a particular time. He is very regimented. He wanted things in order.
"With Gambhir, he doesn't expect all that. He has a relaxed order. He will be a people's man. He will capture everybody's heart. I think he will be loved by the boys," Ashwin said.
Ash also opened up on how Rohit Sharma is a leader who knows how to work well with everyone, saying that he is very composed and calm as a skipper.
Gautam Gambhir made a mark on his Test Cricket debut as the head coach for Team India. With the first match now done and dusted, all the attention now moves to Kanpur for the 2nd Test Match against Bangladesh where India will aim for a series whitewash. The Bangla Tigers, on the other hand, will be aiming to bounce back to avoid a whitewash before they head onto the T20Is leg of games.
