Rachin Ravindra took to the last wicket to clinch the MLC Final title for Washington Freedom

Rachin Ravindra removed Juanoy Drysdale to get the last wicket as Washington Freedom defeated the San Francisco Unicorns by 96 runs on Sunday, July 28, at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

Having won the toss, the San Francisco Unicorns decided to bowl first but Washington Freedom, with a strong 207/5 in their 20 overs, attacked.

Early in their pursuit, the Unicorns lost three important wickets in the powerplay—including Finn Allen (13) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (3). Washington's bowlers controlled, often claiming wickets and destroying the Unicorns' batting order. With Carmi le Roux (20*) leading the scoring, the Unicorns bowled out for 111 in 16 overs.

With each collecting three wickets, Marco Jansen and Rachin Ravindra were outstanding; this helped Washington Freedom to raise the MLC 2024 trophy.

Washington Freedom won its first title thanks in great part to Captain Steven Smith's leadership. Washington had an early setback with Travis Head (9) falling in the second over to Pat Cummins following an initial bat first request. Additionally falling short were Andries Gous (21) and Rachin Ravindra (11). Smith anchored the innings, though, striking a remarkable 88 off 52 balls with Glenn Maxwell's blazing 40 off 22 deliveries supporting him.

With two wickets, Pat Cummins was the best bowler for the Unicorns; yet, his efforts were in useless since the team never looked competitive in their pursuit. Washington's bowlers consistently produced breakthroughs that led to a clear 96-run triumph.
