Virat Kohli's exceptional journey
The skipper's journey from when he began his career for the Men in Blue under the wings of Captain Cool MS Dhoni to becoming a successful skipper of the Indian team has been groundbreaking and spectacular. With consistency in skill and performance, the Indian skipper is easily the most respected cricketer in the world and he is after breaking records, those being held by legends of the game for a very long time. Indian captain Virat Kohli became the first batsman to score 20,000 international runs in a single decade, the incredible stat providing another reflection of his greatness.
Relive Virat Kohli's maiden century
Virat Kohli's first century came against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in December 2009 when he scored 107 runs and formed a formidable partnership with Gautam Gambhir to help India push towards the target of 315 that was set by the away side. The youngster's performance was so good that Gambhir, who received the Man of the Match award for his unbeatable knock of 150, said he handed over the award to Virat Kohli.
