Ravi Shastri vows to lend long rope to players, in sync with Kohli

India's head coach Ravi Shastri addressed the questions on the constant changes in the team and spoke about the same, citing wicket-keeper batsmen Rishabh Pant's example. Rishabh Pant has been facing a lot of criticism from fans and cricket pundits for his poor shot selection that saw him throwing his wicket away on various occasions. Acknowledging the issue of constant changes, Shastri stated that team management will ensure a sense of security amongst the player and makes sure that there is no lack of communication between the selectors and the players.

He then gave Rishabh Pant's example and said that it is my responsibility to get him back to his best when he is struggling. I have the right to scold him when I am unhappy as much as I am certain that I will applaud when he does well. Furthermore, he stated that skipper Virat Kohli shares the same notion as he does of giving players a long rope and making changes without letting the players know what's going right or wrong for them is not correct.

MSK Prasad speaks about Pant's inclusion in the team

Chief selector MSK Prasad on Wednesday said that he has already mentioned that it's time to think beyond Dhoni and it reflected in their team selections. 

"I made it very clear, post World Cup that we are moving on. We are giving opportunities to youngsters and see that they establish themselves in the side. With Rishabh Pant doing so well and Sanju Samson coming into the side, I am sure, you must be understanding our thought process," Prasad said.

"We definitely had a chat with Dhoni and he also endorses our view of backing youngsters."Putting his weight firmly behind Pant, Prasad said, "Post World Cup, I have been very clear on this, that after World Cup we have started backing Rishabh Pant. So we will still back him (Pant) and see that he progresses well. "Of course, he might not have the best of the matches, the way we expect of him, but we can still only make a player by backing somebody. So we are confident that he will come out successful and that's been the thought process post World Cup and we focusing on Rishabh Pant."  So we will still back him (Pant) and see that he progresses well.
