'He is my go-to man generally': Rishabh Pant Opens Up on His Intimate Friendship with MS Dhoni

Rishabh Pant, one of India's most promising young cricketers, recently opened up about his close friendship with former Indian captain MS Dhoni. Speaking to Star Sports, Pant shared how Dhoni has been a guiding force both on and off the field. 

This revelation comes amid rumors that Rishabh Pant might leave Delhi Capitals (DC) before the IPL 2025 season to join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as MS Dhoni's successor. Although these reports are unconfirmed, they have gained traction since Ricky Ponting's resignation as the head coach of Delhi Capitals.

Rishabh Pant talks about his friendship with MS Dhoni

Rishabh Pant expressed deep admiration and reliance on MS Dhoni, highlighting the veteran's role in his decision-making process. "Sirf on the field nahi, off the field bhi. Agar mere ko koi problem hota hai to he is someone who is my go-to man generally. Jab main khud confuse ho jata hu tab main bhaiya ke paas hi jaata hu, 'Ki bhaiya ab kya lagta hai?'" said Pant. ("Not just on the field, but off the field as well. If I have any problem, he is someone who is my go-to man generally. When I get confused, I go to him and ask, 'Brother, what do you think now?")

Pant continued to explain how Dhoni's mentorship is not about giving direct answers but about fostering independent thinking. "He is someone jo aapko apne decisions banane dete hai. He wants you to learn through your own process. Aisa nahi hai ki yeh maine bata diya toh yahi karna hai. Dono side ka bata dete hai. End of the day, you choose what you want to do. Bohot saari learnings hai." ("He is someone who lets you make your own decisions. He wants you to learn through your own process. It's not like he tells you to do exactly what he says. He shows both sides. At the end of the day, you choose what you want to do. There are many learnings.")

Rishabh Pant's comments underscore the deep bond he shares with Dhoni, whom he affectionately calls "bhaiya" (brother). This relationship has been pivotal in Pant's growth as a cricketer, providing him with invaluable lessons and guidance.
