Ritika Sajdeh Salutes Aaron Finch For Defending Rohit Sharma After Sunil Gavaskar Criticism
Sunil Gavaskar had suggested that if Rohit Sharma misses the first two Tests due to personal reasons, he should step down as captain for the entire BGT series.
Ritika Sajdeh, wife of Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma , has reacted to the ongoing debate about her husband's potential absence from the upcoming Test series against Australia. Sunil Gavaskar had suggested that if Rohit misses the first two Tests due to personal reasons, he should step down as captain for the entire series. However, former Australian skipper Aaron Finch disagreed, stating that Rohit should be allowed to take time off for the birth of his second child.

Ritika Sajdeh salutes Aaron Finch for defending Rohit Sharma
Ritika Sajdeh has now weighed in on the matter, expressing her appreciation for Aaron Finch's stance. She commented on an Instagram post with a 'salute' emoji, tagging Finch and highlighting both Sunil Gavaskar and Finch's comments.
The debate began when reports emerged that Rohit Sharma might miss the first Test match of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to the impending birth of his child. Gavaskar suggested that if Rohit misses a match, he should step down as captain for the entire series, prioritizing Indian cricket's interests, and allow the vice-captain to take over. Jasprit Bumrah has been named Rohit's deputy for the contest.

"We have been reading that Rohit Sharma will not play in the first Test, perhaps he will not play in the second as well. If this is the case, then I say that, right now, the Indian selection committee should say that 'if you have to rest, rest, if there are personal reasons then look at them. But if you are missing two-thirds of the matches then you should go for this tour only as a player. We will make the vice-captain the captain of this tour'," Gavaskar told Sports Tak.
"Indian cricket is the most important. I would say that if we had won the New Zealand series 3-0, it would have been a different matter. Because we have lost this series 3-0, there is a need for a captain. The captain has to unite the team. If there is no captain in the beginning, it is better to make someone else the captain," Gavaskar added.
However, Aaron Finch disagreed with Sunil Gavaskar's analysis, emphasizing the importance of family and personal moments like the birth of a child.
"I disagree with Sunny on that totally. Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian cricket team. If you need to stay at home because your wife is having a baby... that's such a beautiful moment... and you take all the time that you need in that regard," Finch told ESPNcricinfo.
