Following a drubbing on Day 1, Team India could not refrain a vibrant New Zealand from breaching the 400 mark in Bengaluru on Day 3 of the 1st Test between India and New Zealand. In consequence, the trail rose to a massive 356, leaving a herculean task in front of the Indian batters. Rohit Sharma Struck By An Unlucky Dismissal

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal put on 72 for the first wicket. Jaiswal was the first one to depart. The onus was on the skipper to steer the ship forward but instantly after completing his 18th Test fifty Rohit Sharma perished. What added salt to the wound was the unfortunate fashion in which he got out.

With a clear frame of mind, Rohit Sharma opted to defend the Ajaz Patel's delivery. However, after hitting the bat, the ball bounced between bat and pad and went on to hit the stumps. Rohit Sharma 's reaction to the dismissal was poignantly depicting the disappointment.

Rohit Sharma 's wicket left India wanting for a solid partnership. As the present phase, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan have provided some solidarity. The two have added 74* for the 4th wicket, putting India at 172/2 after 33 overs. The trail however is still 184. The objective for both the batsmen would be to see out the day.

Earlier, at the back of Rachin Ravindra's exceptional knock of 134 and Tim Southee's valuable innings of 65, New Zealand posted a total of 402 in the first innings. Bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja picked three wickets apiece. Mohammed Siraj struck two, Jasprit Bumrah , and Ravindra Jadeja snared with one wicket each.
