The Rohit Sharma-led Indian Cricket Team's biggest challenge in 2024 will be the Border-Gavaskar trophy. With the tour happening down under, the Men in Blue will be in a hostile environment and the Aussies have been a dominant force while in home conditions. They will look forward to avoiding the historic defeat in Gabba when India defeated Australia the last time the tour took place there.

Team India to prepare for the Adelaide Pink Ball Test with a day-night tour match in Canberra

The Indian Cricket Team will feature in a two-day day-night tour match against Australia's PM XI. The Men in Blue will open their Border-Gavaskar campaign in Perth and then feature in the day-night tour match-up at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

“This year's Prime Minister's XI fixture — which will highlight the strong cricket bonds that stretch back to India's independence in 1947 and celebrate the nations' ever-strengthening economic, cultural and community ties — also features an historic first.

“While it represents the fourth time India have tackled a PM's XI in Australia, the event has not previously been fought out over two days, with the initial 48 fixtures (against touring teams and ATSIC Chairman's XI) dating back to 1951 hosting one-day games,” Cricket Australia said in a statement on their website.

The decision for a day-night tour match will help India ahead of the Adelaide Test which will be played under the lights with the pink kookaburra ball. India hasn't been a part of pink-ball tests for quite some time. The last time was back in 2022 in Bengaluru, where India faced Sri Lanka.

Team India, under the tutelage of Gautam Gambhir, will begin their Test campaign in Australia at Perth's Optus Stadium. The first red-ball fixture will take place on November 22, 2024, while the remaining matches will take place at the MCG, the SCG, the Gabba, and Adelaide. The Men in Blue have sealed back-to-back series wins in Australia and they will aim for glory yet again.
