Rohit Sharma created a historic record on June 29, 2024. The legendary right-handed batsman became the only player in history to win the T20 World Cup both as a captain and as a player. With India's second T20 World Cup win, Rohit Sharma became only the third Indian skipper after MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma to win an ICC trophy. Soon after India's historic World T20 triumph, Rohit announced his retirement from the shortest international format.

The members of Rohit Sharma-led Team India were given hero's welcome after they landed in the country. They first met PM Modi in Delhi for breakfast and quick catchup and then flew off to Mumbai for their victory parade. It seemed as if everybody in the 'City of Dreams' had taken to the streets to express their adulation for the World Champions.
The victory parade was a spectacle to behold as the Indian team travelled to the Wankhede from the Mumbai airport. The residents of Mumbai did everything possible to catch a glimpse of their favourite cricketers. On the occasion of India's independence, Rohit Sharma pulled out a video from the victory parade in order to wish the citizens of the country.

The India ODI and Test skipper took the entire world by storm as he ripped oppositions apart with his stellar form in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup. Skipper Sharma has often spoken about India being ultra-aggressive and playing fearless cricket and he is the first one to lead his team by example. In the recently concluded IND vs SL ODI series, Rohit was the only one who showed some intent and played with some positivity.
Rohit Sharma's recent outings have propelled him to the second spot of the ICC ODI rankings and he is just behind Babar Azam as of now.
