Rohit Sharma is easily one of the best batters of the generation. The former India T20 captain is a seasoned match-winner. Till a year back, he was the captain of the most-successful IPL franchise Mumbai Indians. But then, a lot has happened over the past 12 months, with Rohit being removed as the leader of MI. Hardik Pandya was made the captain of the side. The move backfired as MI became the first team to be knocked out of the playoff race. Once they were knocked out, fans started demanding the return of Rohit as the captain of the side. But with age and form not on his side back then, it seemed the franchise would have to take a hard call and release Rohit from the squad ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.

But then, things changed as Rohit went onto lead India to the T20 WC win in the USA and Caribbean. So, with the auction set to take place soon, why Rohit would still be the key for MI.

Would Rohit Still be Key For MI?

Experience: ‘Hitman’, as he is popularly called, has immense experience of playing the cash-rich league and as they say, ‘experience’ is invaluable. In 257 IPL games, Rohit has amassed 5054 runs. MI would think many times if it comes down to that given his record.

Rohit-Hardik Tuning: When Hardik was made the captain of MI, the chemistry between him and Rohit did not seem good. Often cameras caught them differing from each other's opinion. But, after the T20 WC win where Hardik turned out to be India's final-over hero, the two were seen hugging each other and celebrating the win. The visuals must have calmed the nerves of MI fans. So, with the tuning between the two senior players good - Rohit certainly gets another shot.
