Rohit Sharma to be Released by Mumbai Indians Ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction - REPORT

IPL 2025: With much speculation around Rohit Sharma 's IPL future, a new report claims that the former MI captain will not be retained. Rohit was not upto the mark with the bat in the 2024 season and with fresh contracts ready to be laid out - the question is, will MI invest in Rohit who is in the twilight of his career. Rohit stepped down as MI captain before the start of IPL 2024 and Hardik Pandya became the new leader. The chemistry between Rohit and Hardik became the talk of the town as it seemed they did not get the tuning right. While fans of MI would want to see their very own Rohit in the franchise, it would be interesting to see what call is taken ahead of the auction.

Rohit in IPL

Rohit, who has played 257 matches to date in his IPL career, has scored 6,628 runs, with an average of 29.72. He has also hit two centuries and 43 half-centuries. Rohit, who has led MI to five titles, is regarded as one of the best-ever to have played the cash-rich league.

IPL 2024 For MI

It was a season to forget as they became the first team to be out of the running for a playoff spot under the leadership of Hardik Pandya . Most reckoned Rohit should be back as the leader of the side. Several speculative reports about Hardik and Rohit have been making the rounds ever since. What we understand is that Hardik and Rohit - both - do not feature in MI in 2025. One will leave is the hunch. 

Rohit is currently leading the Indian team in a two-match Test series versus Bagladesh.
