'Got It Slightly Wrong': India Asst. Coach Admits The Biggest Mistake Made By The Team In Bengaluru
India and New Zealand have locked horns with each other in a three-match Test series. New Zealand defeated India by 8 wickets in the first Test and are 1-0 up
IND vs NZ 2nd Test: Team India suffered a shocking defeat against the Kiwis in the series opener that was played in Bengaluru. Rohit Sharma and Co. came under heavy scrutiny for how the assessed the conditions, especially the pitch. After winning the toss on the second day of the Test match, Team India decided to bat first with overcast conditions and on a pitch that had all kinds of demons in them. This led to India getting bundled out for 46 in the first innings.
Ryan ten Doeschate On India's Strategic Miss
Rohit Sharma and Co. left every fan and cricket expert bamboozled with their decision to bat first with the grey skies. India registered a remarkable turnaround in the game by nullifying New Zealand's lead of 356 runs and taking a lead of 106 runs, but it all went in vain as the Kiwis chased down the target in the fourth innings with eight wickets left in hand.
Ahead of the second Test match, that is scheduled to be played in Pune, Team India's Assistant Head Coach Ryan ten Doeschate was asked about what led India to bat first in Bengaluru, to which he had an interesting answer.

'I haven't been out there myself yet, but rest assured we're going to do everything in our capability to give the best assessment of that wicket. We got it slightly wrong in Bangalore the other day. I don't think it was a massive miss. The conditions just caught us on the back foot a little bit. So you can be sure that the preparation and the assessment of the wicket is going to be as close to perfect as we can make it.', said Doeschate in the pre-match presser.

With clouds of doubts hovering around Rishabh Pant 's fitness and his availability for the next Test, India have called up Washington Sundar, bowling all-rounder, looking at the number of left handers New Zealand have at their disposal. The second Test match to be hosted by Pune will be India's only chance to keep the series alive.
