Amid Staunch Criticism Sanju Samson Equals Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma's Unique T20I Record
India have defeated Sri Lanka by 3-0 in the recently concluded T20I series. The 'Men in Blue' will now play 3 ODIs against the hosts.
India tour of Sri Lanka: The Gautam Gambhir era has officially begun for the Indian Cricket Team. Under the supervision of T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gambhir, India inflicted a clean sweep on Sri Lanka in a three match T20I series. The Indian team is currently in a transitional phase with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from the shortest format of international cricket. Right after India won their second T20 World Cup on June 29, 2024, both Rohit and Virat announced their international retirements.
Sanju Samson Equals Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's Record
Sanju Samson has always been portrayed as a victim by his fans. The people who rally for Sanju Samson, troll BCCI regularly for not giving Sanju his due. Sanju Samson has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and the IPL, but whenever opportunities come knocking on his door, he bottles them up. Samson was dropped from India's ODI World Cup squad and his fans started to blame the selection committee and the BCCI. Sanju somehow made it to India's T20 World Cup squad this year, but did not make it to the final playing eleven.

After coach Gautam Gambhir took over, Samson was handed two valuable chances in two T20Is against Sri Lanka but he ended up scoring two consecutive ducks. Samson has now equalled Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's record of scoring three T20I ducks in a single calendar year. Rohit recorded three T20I ducks in 2018 whereas Kohli recorded them in 2009.

The Indian team is done with the T20Is now and is gearing up for the ODIs. With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma returning, the Indian team looks all set. It will potentially be the first screen test of the Indian team and how they plan to go about things in the Champion's Trophy. There are chances that India might not participate in the Champion's Trophy which is to be hosted by Pakistan but the BCCI is yet to confirm this.
