After a disastrous outing in the T20Is, Pakistan cricket team returned to form by dictating terms against Australia A in the ongoing three-day tour match. Earlier on Day 1, Pakistan Test skipper Azhar Ali won the toss and decided to bat first. Riding on Babar Azam’s unbeaten 157, the visitors ended the first day at 336-3 in 90 overs.

Shaheen Afridi imitates Shahid Afridi’s celebration during an impressive bowling spell
Pakistan finally ended their innings at 428 after facing 118 overs. In Australia A’s response, Pakistani bowlers wreaked havoc and shot-out the hosts for just 122, thus gaining a huge 306-run first-innings lead. 32-year old Imran Khan was the pick-of-the-bowlers for the visitors as he finished the innings with figures of 5-32. Pakistan’s limited-overs specialist Shaheen Afridi also bowled with fire as he accounted for the dismissals of Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft. The 19-year old paceman celebrated both his wickets by imitating former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi’s style of celebration. In a shot-by-shot comparison, Shaheen can be seen extending his arms with joy much like how Shahid Afridi celebrated his wickets during his playing days.

Meanwhile, after gaining a first-innings lead, Pakistani batsmen came out in the middle to face three overs before stumps on Day 2. The two batsmen safely negotiated the deliveries and ended the day at 7 for no loss. The visitors are scheduled to play another tour game before the start of the Test series against the Australian national team. They will face Cricket Australia XI in a two-day match on November 15 and 16 at the Perth Stadium. The first Test of the upcoming two-match Test series will be played at The Gabba from November 21 onwards. The Test series between the two nations will also form a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.
