'Should Be Lifting Trophies': Michael Vaughan Tips India as TOP Contenders for next ICC Tournaments

Michael Vaughan's recent posts on social media have been getting a lot of attention. Through the X platform, the former England captain has been clearly voicing different views, but his tweets have always been about Team India. Over the past few days, Vaughan's words have both annoyed and pleased Indian cricket fans. To the latter group, Vaughan has now made a statement on how the Indian Cricket Team's future looks after they destroy all teams and lift the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Michael Vaughan believes India will take some beating in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 

According to Michael Vaughan, who spoke with the Telegraph Cricket, India will be a strong contender at the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy and Twenty20 World Cup. India are well-prepared to win the forthcoming competitions, according to Vaughan, who highlighted their strengths by describing their expertise and squad depth. He said that India is well-equipped to win tournaments and that they would likely begin their trophy winning streak in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the Twenty20 World Cup in India that follows. In reference to India's World Test Championship aspirations, Vaughan drew a comparison to a penalty shootout, when a single victory motivates the pursuit of more victories. He hinted that India's winless streak  which was ended by the T20 World Cup might lead to several tournament victories in the years to come.

“I look at the next two tournaments the Champions Trophy in Pakistan is quite a 19 day tournament in February and March next year the wickets are gonna be dry, India will take some beating there, and they should,  the next T20 World Cup in India. They will be taking some beating there aswell and they should you kow they’ve got so much skill, so much depth in their squad and the kind of assets you require to be an outstanding team, they should be lifting trophies in the next few years and they will try and get the World Test Championship. It’s bit like the penalty shoot-out, once you get one you think about the other. In India’s case, to win a trophy after over 10 years, the bush kind of kicks and they might win a few trophies.” 

The Indian cricket team has made six finals in the past ten years, which is noteworthy. Another ICC title seems certain whenever India fields its star-studded squad in all the formats of the game.
