BCCI finally announced India's squad for the tour against Sri Lanka which will mark new head coach Gautam Gambhir's first assignment with the side.
In Gautam Gambhir's debut series as head coach he has decided to recall IPL 2024 winning captain with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and India's key player in middle order at ODI World Cup 2023.
Shubman Gill's Return To Indian Cricket Team
Shubman Gill had a decent campaign with Team India in the 2023 ODI World Cup scoring 530 runs including a blistering century against New Zealand in the finals.
Despite his performances Shreyas Iyer was dropped from the central contract by BCCI for 2023-24 for failing to meet the criteria set to play domestic and first class cricket.
The snub arrived as a big blow to Shreyas Iyer and he found himself out of India's team since the ODI World Cup last year. But given his revival with KKR in IPL 2024 under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir, he was back into the fold.
Gautam Gambhir in his debut series as head coach rewarded Shreyas Iyer with calling him back into the Indian Cricket Team as he is selected for the ODI squad against Sri Lanka.
Shreyas Iyer will want to grab the opportunity by both hands and payback the faith put in him by the selectors and head coach.
