With Rohit Sharma in the twilight period of his career, there are already speculations over who could be India's next all-format captain. As there are a number of options, it is very difficult to pick just one. There is all-rounder Hardik Pandya , who till February was the next captain but after what transpired at the Mumbai Indians , his chances have taken a hit. India is blessed to also have a Shreyas Iyer, who helped Kolkata Knight Riders clinch the IPL title. But with Iyer, the problem is - he has been unable to cement his place in the side. Not to forget, there is Rishabh Pant as well. Pant is young, has the experience and is a solid contender as he plays all three formats as well. But will he be India's next all-format captain?

One does not have to look far as young Shubman Gill is a potential candidate as well. Gill has been in charge of Gujarat Titans . Veteran India cricketer Dinesh Karthik was asked to pick India's next all-format captain during a session on Cricbuzz. Karthik picked Gill and Pant as the two potential options.

"Two players come straight into my mind, who are young, have the potential and definitely can lead India in all the format in the near future. One, Rishabh Pant . Two, Shubman Gill," replied Karthik.
"Both of them are captains in IPL teams and have captained India. I do think in time, they have the captain for India as well," he added.
What's next for Team India?
After the series against Sri Lanka, the Indian team would now host Bangladesh and New Zealand before travelling down south to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. A big cricketing season lies ahead.
