Against the San Francisco Unicorns at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas, Washington Freedom skipper Steve Smith gave a superb performance in the 2024 Major League Cricket (MLC) final. After being called in to bat first, Smith guided his team to a stunning total of 207-5 with an amazing 88 runs off just 52 balls.

Given that Smith was left out of the 2024 T20 World Cup team, the MLC in 2024 was a big platform for him to restate his T20 cricket ability. Under head coach Ricky Ponting, Smith advanced himself alongside Travis Head to the top of the order.
