Sunil Gavaskar Meets Legendary Boxer Muhammad Ali's wife Lonnie Ali
Sunil Gavaskar made a visit to Kentucky which is Muhammad Ali's hometown. The ex-cricketer also visited the Muhammad Ali centre in downtown Louisville.
Sunil Gavaskar is known for his contribution to the field of cricket as an ace-player and commentator. The legendary player is often regarded as the greatest Test batsman and the best opening batsman the Indian cricket team ever had. He had set a record for the highest Test runs and Test centuries to have been scored by any batsman. Gavaskar's record of 34 Test centuries was only broken after two decades by Sachin Tendulkar.
Sunil Gavaskar Visit Louisville
Recently the 70-years-old Sunil Gavaskar made a visit to Kentucky which is Muhammad Ali's hometown. The ex-cricketer made a visit to the Muhammad Ali Centre in downtown Louisville. He met the wife of the boxing legend Muhammad Ali, Lonnie Ali. Gavaskar also met the Mayor of Louisville Greg Fischer.
Gavaskar met both Lonnie Ali and Mayor Greg Fischer to discuss the opening of a cricket museum at the prestigious Muhammad Ali Centre. Gavaskar has agreed to donate some of his memorabilia to the proposed cricket museum. Sunil Gavaskar has deservingly become India's global cricket ambassador. The former Test champion has a road named after him in Wellington, New Zealand. Sunil Gavaskar also has a cricket field dedicated to him in Kentucky already. The field is named 'Sunil M. Gavaskar Cricket Field' and is home to cricket enthusiasts in Kentucky. Greg Fischer and Louisville Sports Commission Board Member, Jai Bokey have the vision of turning Louisville into a cricket destination for the USA. It looks like this vision of the two of them is shaping up well.
Sunil Gwaskar met the President of the USA
This comes just days after Sunil Gavaskar's meet with President Donald Trump in New York. He was in New York to raise donations and awareness for a charity foundation which provides free surgeries to children with congenital heart defects. The iconic cricketer has participated in multiple fundraising events in New York, New Jersey and Atlanta. The funds raised have aided more than 200 free surgeries so far.
