Ravindra Jadeja set to make his return

Ahead of the looming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India gets a massive boost as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is set to join the squad. Following a successful knee surgery and some blitz in the Ranji Trophy, Jadeja is pitted to return to the Indian Test unit. Ravindra Jadeja, who in the last couple of years has redeemed himself as a premier match-winner for India, experienced a knee injury setback right after playing a crucial knock against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022. The 34-year-old has been out since then subsequently missing out on the T20 World Cup and the bilateral series that have taken place afterwards.

The criticality of the injury saw Jadeja taking precarious measures like extending the period in rehab, however, upon undergoing successful surgery in his right knee and after a follow-up process at the NCA the left-hander recovered.

Domestic tournament paves international return

Following the long recovery Ravindra Jadeja found recourse to fitness through Ranji Trophy. To check and thereby prove his fitness mettle to the selectors, Jadeja registered himself to play for Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy 2022-23. A move that turned out to be crucial for his international return.

Playing against Tamil Nadu in the final group-stage match, Jadeja bowled a total of 41.1 overs and bagged seven wickets in the second innings. While captaining his side Jadeja could not make a formidable impact as a batsman and could not prevent Saurashtra from a 59-run loss, however, the all-rounder was declared the winner on the fitness front by India selectors.

The Ranji performance helped Jadeja reclaim a position in the India side. The all-rounder will join the India squad in Nagpur for the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will commence on February 9, 2023.
